Established in 1999, the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) is a state-approved private university with its main campus in Malabe and metropolitan campus in Colombo, along with regional centres in Kandy, Kurunegala, Matara, and Jaffna. It's recognised by the University Grants Commission and is a member of both the Association of Commonwealth Universities and International Association of Universities. SLIIT is the first Sri Lankan non-state institute accredited by IET (UK), its degrees are UGC recognised, and its engineering degrees are endorsed by IESL. It consistently ranks high in Webometrics and national assessments.
In addition to formal degrees, SLIIT’s Centre for Open and Distance Education offers certifications in AI, Cyber Security, and industry-aligned professional training programmes (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Academy).
