About IIT
Founded in 1990 as the Informatics Institute of Computer Studies and now known as the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), it was Sri Lanka’s first private institution to offer UK-validated degrees in ICT and Business. IIT has a Colombo 6 campus and regional centres in Galle and Kurunegala, educating over 4,000 students and awarding more than 5,000 British degrees.

Academic Schools & Partnerships
IIT comprises the School of Computing and the Business School. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in partnership with UK universities such as University of Westminster, Keele University, Robert Gordon University, and Manchester Metropolitan University. It’s the only Sri Lankan institution to offer UK M.Sc. degrees locally, backed by UGC recognition and ISO certification.

Research & Innovation
The institute hosts active research groups in areas like AI, data science, biomedical engineering, and software innovation. A notable annual event—the iCIIT Symposium—celebrates student-led research and connects academia with industry.
