About Sri Lanka Red Cross Society
Established in 1936 and legally recognized by Royal Charter in 1951, SLRCS serves as Sri Lanka’s national Red Cross organization. Aligned with the International Federation and the Geneva Conventions, it provides neutral and impartial humanitarian aid across the country.

Vision: Alleviate human suffering while fostering resilience and dignity.

Volunteer Network & Youth Engagement
SLRCS relies on over 6,500 active volunteers and 100,000 members coordinated through cadet programmes, youth clubs, and branch committees—enabling rapid, local responses and community outreach.

Recognised by the government and part of the IFRC network, SLRCS operates under the seven fundamental principles: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.

Recent Highlights
• Provided PPE and oxygen concentrators during COVID-19
• Conducted first aid trainings for police personnel
• Provided school kits and flood relief in Ampara
• Supported national blood donation events in collaboration with NBTS
