Ministry of Crab is housed in the historic Dutch Hospital precinct in Colombo Fort. Co-founded by Chef Dharshan Munidasa and cricket legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, it celebrates Sri Lanka’s wild-caught mud crab and giant freshwater prawns in an iconic heritage setting.
Enjoy the freshest seafood with a strict no-freezer policy. Signature dishes include Chili Crab, Pepper Crab, Garlic Chilli Crab, and steamed “Pure Crab.” Guests can select crab sizes from Small (500–600 g) to the colossal 2 kg “Crabzilla,” and prawns up to “Prawnzilla” size.
The beverage list highlights Sri Lankan arrack cocktails, an extensive wine selection, a Single Malt collection, and rare champagne, including the impressive 9‑litre “Moët-zilla.”
Set within a 400‑year‑old Dutch colonial building, the restaurant features lively outdoor courtyard dining and elegant indoor spaces with colonial charm. The upbeat atmosphere is enhanced with bibs, crab tools, and enthusiastic service.
Open daily from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM (last order 9:30 PM). Closed on Poya (full moon) days. Reservations are accepted via WhatsApp or email—walk‑in tables are held for only 15 minutes after booking time.
