Launched in 2007 by entrepreneur and conservationist Otara Gunewardene, Embark uses fashion—vibrant clothing, accessories, jewellery—to fund a growing street dog welfare movement, encompassing rescue missions, rehoming, sterilisation, vaccination, and public education. Embark remains at the intersection of fashion, compassion, and social change.
Embark’s bold designs—led by mascots Niko, Bandit, and Rozzy—are more than style statements; sales directly fuel welfare programs across Sri Lanka.
Since inception, Embark has been instrumental in improving street dog welfare—rescuing thousands, conducting mass sterilisation and vaccination clinics, and fostering adoption and education initiatives across the country.
Known for bright, zesty retail experiences, Embark once operated standalone stores (e.g. Galle Fort launch in 2015) and concept counters across Sri Lanka—though these are now closed; a limited capsule collection is available online.
Supporters can join the cause through adoption, fostering, volunteering, or education outreach.
